Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has rapped Rodrygo Goes about his positional complaints.
Rodrygo complained this week in Brazil about being played as a No9 at Real.
Ancelotti snapped today: “It is important to know where the player wants to play, I have never put anyone in a position that they do not like, but sometimes due to the demands of the team someone has to sacrifice themselves… Like Tchouameni, Camavinga, Rodrygo himself did… He is a complete forward, he can do many things. My idea is the demands of the team and then the individual.
“No one has told me that he can’t play in the position I tell him. I once put Ramos as a pivot, he didn’t like it, but they were the team’s demands. This is a very well defined word, it is called altruism.”
Ancelotti was also asked about taking the Brazil job in 2024.
He added: “I’m also a little selfish, in this, I think it’s always necessary to do your job well. I’m not talking about my future. My future is tomorrow and Wednesday.”
Ancelotti also hit out at Barcelona president Joan Laporta over claims of Madrid bias amongst those investigating allegations of bribery.
The Italian said: “I have heard it. It is what I said when we talked about racism. We must not divert the shot. It is a serious matter that the justice system is investigating and we have to let it work. Wait. Everything else is diverting the shot, which at the level judicial is not good…”
