Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong informed his Barcelona teammates that he may move clubs in the summer of 2022.
De Jong was the midfielder that manager Erik ten Hag wanted the summer he joined the club.
However, United were unable to agree a deal with De Jong, despite agreeing a fee with Barcelona.
De Jong’s Barcelona teammate Gavi told La Vanguardia this week: “I admire Frenkie. When he said he could leave, I was upset and told him so.
“Thank goodness he didn’t leave and is still with us.”
The deal between United and De Jong collapsed due to the Dutch midfielder’s £15 million in deferred wages, which Barca stated they would not pay if he left.
