Toni Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are the two transfers which forced a shift in contract policy at Chelsea.
Chelsea lost centre-back pair Andreas Christensen (Barcelona) and Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid) in the summer of 2022.
Both left as Bosman transfers when their contracts expired and according to the Daily Mail, it saw a change in Chelsea‘s plans.
Enzo Fernández (contract until summer 2031), Moisés Caicedo (2031), Roméo Lavia (2030), Mykhaylo Mudryk (2031) and Nicolas Jackson (2031) were all eventually signed to long-term deals.
And one reason for the shift was Chelsea now want to avoid future Bosman departures as occurred with Rudiger and Christensen.
