Barcelona president Joan Laporta has enjoyed a dig at Manchester City over their deal for Ilkay Gundogan.
The former City captain has agreed a three-year deal with Barca, which will be formalised on July 1 when his Sky Blues contract expires.
Buoyed by Gundogan’s commitment, Laporta told Esport3: “He is a player who preferred a prestigious club over Manchester City‘s money.
“Here he will work very well, then Xavi trusted the player.
“He had always dreamed of playing in a great team. A European champion is coming, with a lot of experience.”
Gundogan joins Barca after leading City to a historic Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Treble.
