Barcelona signing Ilkay Gundogan has highlighted the influence of Stefan Ortega last season.
While a bit-part player, the German goalkeeper was part of City’s FA Cup winning team.
Former City captain Gundogan wrote in the Players’ Tribune: “The person who had a huge impact on my life on a personal and professional level was Stefan Ortega, our second goalkeeper.
“We Germans had a lot in common. We just had a cup of espresso every day and it helped me to show great results last season. If he wasn’t here, I don’t think I would have had such an outstanding season.
“Football needs like-minded guys like Stefan. And he was one for me.”
