Mateu Alemany is set to now STAY with Barcelona.
It was announced by Barca and Alemany that he would be leaving his sporting director’s job at the end of the season.
Alemany was expected to join Aston Villa, with summer transfer targets identified for his new club.
However, it’s now emerged he is set to perform a U-turn and stay with the Catalans.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports: “Mateu Alemany, now surprisingly set to stay at Barcelona — he’s changing his mind after official announcement of his departure.
“Alemany had an agreement in principle with Aston Villa but he never signed any document.
“Barça, now expected to continue with Alemany.”
