Jordi Cruyff and Barcelona have confirmed he’s stepping down.
After two years with the Blaugrana, the son of club legend Johan Cruyff is “looking for new challenges”.
A club statement read: “Jordi Cruyff has expressed his desire to help the club transition to a new football governance structure and has offered his maximum cooperation in closing pending summer market operations.”
After coaching in China in August 2021, Cruyff initially joined Barcelona as a strategic advisor. Last summer, the 49-year-old was promoted to sporting director.
“The club would like to thank Jordi Cruyff for his important contribution as a member of the sports committee and wish him the best of luck in his new professional path.”
Cruyff is the second sporting director to leave the Catalans after Mateu Alemany. As a successor, Deco will most likely fill the void.
