Lamine Yamal‘s Real Madrid supporting father was a contributing factor to his Barcelona debut yesterday.
The 15 year-old became Barca’s youngest ever LaLiga player when he entered the 4-0 defeat of Real Betis in the 83rd minute.
AS says while Barca coach Xavi felt it was the right moment to hand the youngster his first team chance, there has also been internal concern raised knowing Yamal’s father has been a guest of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for games at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
Yamal’s father has even been seen in a Real Madrid shirt at Barca’s La Masia training complex. As such, accelerating his son’s first team introduction is being used to show Yamal’s family how highly they think of Lamine.
Yamal will be due to sign a first pro contract when he turns 16 in two months’ time. The teen has recently joined agent Jorge Mendes’ stable.
