Barcelona technical chief Mateu Alemany is yet to discuss a new contract.
Sport says Aston Villa have sounded out Alemany to head up their football department, offering him a free hand in a new sporting project and a very significant salary.
Villa have not been the only club that have sounded out the Barça director of football. Alemany, as of today, has rejected all proposals.
What is also true is that the Blaugrana executive’s contract at Camp Nou ends in 2024 and, for now, he has not renewed despite president Joan Laporta’s desire to tie him down for another season.
For now, Alemany will focus on overseeing the summer market as Barça’s top sporting executive. But the board are keen to tie him down.
