Spanish pundits were unimpressed by Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti‘s handling of last night’s Copa del Rey defeat to Barcelona.
Barca won the semifinal first-leg 1-0 in Madrid last night.
On El Larguero, Marco Lopez said, “(Ronald) Araújo beats Vinicius psychologically. It is an exercise in concentration, fierceness and defensive spirit without any bad gestures or kicks.
“Madrid’s game seemed poor to me, Ancelotti ended up removing (Toni) Kroos and (Luka) Modric because (Franck) Kessie and (Frenkie) De Jong ate them. Someone tell Ancelotti that to win a game you have to shoot on goal…
“There are very few defenders who are capable of nullifying Vinicius from their body, speed and anticipation. In the end, Vinicius has left the left wing to (Eduardo) Camavinga because he was crazy, and today he is going to dream of Araújo.”
Julio Pulido also said: “I think Ancelotti has failed with Vinicius. He has been trying to tame Vinicius’s character for months and has not succeeded. He overexcites the rest of the team and the bench and makes him a worse footballer.”
