Barcelona have officially registered Gavi as a first-team player and he is now finally a member of the first-team squad.
Barça had already tied down his future in September last year by renewing him until June 2026 with a clause of €1 billion, but the job had to be finished.
Now Gavi has been renewed and is officially a first-team player after Barça, with the departures that have occurred during this transfer window, achieved the necessary salary margin to register the Andalusian midfielder’s deal.
Barça only have to register the renewals of two other players who have also confirmed or almost confirmed their contract upgrades.
They are Ronald Araujo and Alejandro Balde. The Uruguayan has already signed his renewal until 2026 and Balde is also about to do so until 2027. If there is no chance now, Barça will register their new contracts in the summer.
With the announcement, Barça have also revealed that Gavi will wear the number ‘6’ from now on, and it is expected that he could debut the number in Wednesday’s game against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín.
