Barcelona coach Xavi has reaffirmed hopes of captain Sergi Busquets signing a new deal.
After appearing likely to leave Barca for Florida and Inter Miami, the veteran midfielder is now leaning towards extending his stay with Barca another 12 months.
Xavi today said, “These days I have not spoken with Busi about his future, we had already done it a long time ago. He is one of the best pivots in history, although little valued. Yes by the coaches, but not by the environment.
“I hope he feels strong to continue at the club, it depends on him.”
Marcos Alonso signed a new deal with Barca today to 2024.
Xavi added: “I am very happy with Marcos Alonso , as a professional and as a person. He is a solvent player, with proven maturity, a very high-level signing. He will be important.”
