Espanyol striker Joselu defended winding up Barcelona fans during their 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp.
Joselu made a ‘shhh’ gesture to the home support when scoring for the Catalan rivals.
He said on Sunday: “It turned out like this. You have a lot of adrenaline, you receive many insults, they remind you a lot about your relatives and a lot had happened in the previous 24 hours.
“And in the end, you get the rage inside you.
“Simply, I wanted to send a message to the pericos who were able to come but not enjoy wearing our shirt. We feel the same pressure.”
Espanyol captain Sergi Darder added: “We played not only for ourselves, but for many other people. It’s hard to be from Espanyol, and with all the adversities we suffer we are more than ever with our people. The image and pride of the team is worth highlighting.”
