Real Madrid, Barcelona target Guimaraes assures Newcastle fans: I’m here to end our trophy drought

Bruno Guimaraes has reaffirmed his commitment to Newcastle United.

The midfielder has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent days.

But Guimaraes has promised Newcastle fans that he will give his all to end the club’s trophy drought. The club hasn’t won a title since 1969.

“To be honest, it’s a long time to spend without winning a trophy,” he said. “I think a lot of fans have never seen Newcastle as champions and I arrived here with that objective: to put Newcastle up there winning trophies.

“I believed in the project from the beginning. The team and fans, especially, deserve it. It’s a long, long time. We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves but it’s also something we have to think about, winning a title.

“I have to have that mentality where I want to be a champion, I want to win, and it’s no different here. I can promise to the fans that I’ll give my best on the pitch so Newcastle can be champions again.”
