Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits they’ll take a financial hit if they’re knocked out of the Champions League.
Barca are reeling after their draw with Inter Milan left their chances of reaching the Champions League round of 16 hanging by a thread.
Laporta said: “It has an impact, but it won’t be 30 or 35 million (euros). You have to keep looking for new sponsorships and keep competing in Europe, which also brings in revenue. The net impact will be less than expected.
“The public was impressive. It was a very changeable game and we hadn’t planned the second half. Inter went well on the counterattack. The crowd overcame several moments of slump and I’ll stick with this. The goal from Lewandowski’s head is of extraordinary aesthetics. When we saw the arrival of the team, we couldn’t lose. I would tell the fans to keep believing.
“We have a very good team that has to give us joy. They have to support Xavi. The comeback we made on Wednesday was because of the fans. We are still alive.”
