Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann snaps back at Barcelona president Laporta after ‘ignorance’ claims

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann says he won’t be silenced by Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Laporta has hit back at Nagelsmann after the German questioned Barca’s ability to buy Robert Lewandowski given their financial concerns.

Nagelsmann said: “I said it from the point of view of a fan. I have no problem with Laporta expressing himself, he has to represent his club. I do not know in detail the financial situation of FC Barcelona, but I will continue giving my opinion in the future.

“Not that I write all my answers before a press conference and then drop a bombshell on the third question. These are things that arise spontaneously.”

Regarding Antonio Conte, the Tottenham manager who was upset after Nagelsmann spoke in public about his player Harry Kane, he added: “We have solved it, I only said that he was a great striker.”

Yesterday, Laporta said: “I have noticed a certain ignorance and lack of information on the part of some of those responsible, some have even distorted reality. It is true that a year ago we were in a critical situation. But we are a 122-year-old club with very important assets. They were not aware of the strength and support that this club has. If I don’t get involved in how they run their club, I would ask them to do the same and not mess with us.

“Let them worry about their own.”
