Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was happy to score in victory at Europa League opponents Napoli.
Barca won 4-2 in Naples to win the Europa League playoff 5-3 on aggregate.
Pique said in the aftermath: “The team was not competitive at the level that a club like Barça is supposed to be for some time. We returned to our origins, to what we always should have done and perhaps stopped doing for a while.
“It is a message for ourselves and for people outside. Little by little, we are coming back.
“As a striker, I would have scored 15 or 20 goals per season, but the truth is that I also had a good time in back.”
Pique continued: “I don’t think it’s fair to point the finger at anyone. We had a trend that was everyone’s fault. The club made decisions in all areas which were not the right ones, but we have to move on. We are in a good period. We must continue in this dynamic. We didn’t win anything but it’s true that where we come from, these victories help a lot.”
