Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde was proud to prove the matchwinner in their Supercopa de Espana semifinal against Barcelona.
Valverde struck in extra-time as Real Madrid reached the final winning 3-2.
The Uruguay international said, “We all played really well throughout the whole match. I’m pleased for the team, with the opportunity that the manager gave me in such an important game and the goal. Barcelona are a great team with top players and they’ve shown tonight that they have the desire to win.
“We showed how good we are in attack by the number of chances we created. But we have to take more of them. If we had, we’d have won the game earlier. Both the team and the coaching staff will work on the mistakes we made.
“It was a tough match and it was a really long trip, but we’re professional players. So well done to the team for tonight’s performance.”
