Held at Barca’s Nou Camp stadium and flanked by club president Joan Laporta, Aguero announced his retirement from the game due to heart problems detected earlier this season.
On debut against Alaves, Aguero was forced from the field and later was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia.
Initially, doctors recommended Aguero spend three months on the sidelines to recover, however he has since decided to hang up the boots. The Argentine joined Barca in the summer in a Bosman transfer from Manchester City.
