Albert Benaiges decides to leave Barcelona

Albert Benaiges has decided to leave Barcelona.

The veteran coach and manager arrived as part of president Joan Laporta’s new backroom team and was named youth co-ordinator. It marked Benaiges’ second spell with the club.

However, Sport says he has informed the board he wishes to leave and his resignation has been accepted.

During his time in charge, Benaiges has brought through several coaching changes, including an insistence that for all junior teams the wingers must play on the flank where their naturally strongest.

For the moment, Barca aren’t expected to seek an outside replacement.
