Spain coach Luis Enrique admits he’d like to see Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola eventually take the La Roja job.
Enrique was asked about Guardiola’s declaration that he intends to leave City in 2023.
He said, “I would love it, it would be perfect. Spain could not have a better coach. I would like to see the team under the imprint of Pep.”
On Barcelona midfielder Pedri and his current break from the game, Enrique also said: “I clearly understand the interests of the club coaches, because I have been one too.
“But what has to be clear is that my judgment is what counts. I will not be affected by the opinions of the coaches, although I am delighted that they call me.
“All the players want to go to the national team, but you have to agree with the calendars because they are not machines and they need rest.”
