Barcelona are delaying contract talks with Ansu Fati.
Marca says Fati’s current deal with Barcelona runs until 2022, but the club are not in a hurry to renew his contract as they have prioritised sealing new signings in the last few weeks.
Talks between the two parties about a potential renewal began months ago and negotiations appear to be on the right track, with both parties being seemingly willing to reach an agreement.
Barcelona consider Fati as an essential part of the club’s future and are optimistic about the outcome of the talks with the youngster’s representatives.
Fati is currently recovering from a serious knee injury that forced him to undergo surgery several times during last season after suffering a knock on November 7.
His renewal has been delayed, but Barcelona have not contemplated any scenario that would see Fati leaving the club despite negotiations not being considered a priority issue for the time being.
