Argentina sporting director Hugo Tocalli says departing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has long been friends with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
Tocalli worked with the pair during his time as Argentina U20 coach between 2005 and 2007 and suggested that their close relationship from that time could be replicated at the Camp Nou.
The deal to take Aguero to the Camp Nou has been agreed, although it has yet to be made official and was confirmed by Pep Guardiola in his post-match interview after Manchester City lifted the Premier League title on Sunday.
“They have had a very good relationship for many years, they are always together at team meetings, they have been friends since they were kids,” Tocalli said on Que t’hi jugues.
“Now Leo [Messi] could give [Aguero] assists at Barcelona.”
