Barcelona coach Koeman slams lack of contact from board

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman admits he feels let down by new president Joan Laporta’s administration.

Koeman isn’t happy at a supposed lack of communication and he discussed this on Friday.

“Over the final stretch of the season, I haven’t [felt the confidence of the club],” he said in the press conference.

“We haven’t spoken about my future and I understand that there are doubts due to the results. I understand changes need to happen to win things.

“If they think there’s a need for another coach or other players then that’s fine, but that has to be communicated.

“Referring to the last few months, I think you have to respect your coach more and the players more. I understand if players are hurt by what has come out in the press recently. They don’t deserve this treatment.

“There are many things that should be done differently.”

Analysing the season as a whole, he said he would have considered this a good campaign at the start of the year.

“I think in August we would have accepted this season, where we fought for the league title until the final two or three games. The problem is that because of how we played and because of how we won the Copa del Rey, we gave more hope.

“There were matches when we weren’t up to it, but I think in general, with the problems we’ve had, it wasn’t bad. It also wasn’t very good.”
