Barcelona winger Konrad de la Fuente says his game has improved this season.
The American youngster, who is normally part of the Barcelona B squad, admits that he is a tough spot but recognised the value of being in and around the first team stars.
“Honestly, it’s not really easy to be in this position. As a footballer, you always want to play,” he said after Barcelona B’s 2-1 win over UD Ibiza, where he scored the winner.
“At the beginning of this season I didn’t play much for either team because I was traveling with the first team and then I would miss a B-team game. Two weeks.
“Then I played for team B, so it was quite difficult to get into the rhythm of games and minutes.”
De la Fuente spoke of what it’s like to train with the seniors, particularly Leo Messi.
“It is incredible to be with the first team, to train with them every day. Learning from the best players in the world, especially Messi, who is one of my idols,” he said.
“It has been very good to learn from him and from all the other players. And I am very grateful because they help me too.”
