Barcelona president Laporta moves quickly to replace finance chief Giro

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has quickly acted after losing his finance chief.

Laporta has wasted no time in getting to work and he is nearing his guarantee of 125 million euros that is needed to confirm his return to the role.

The guarantees will be sent to LaLiga on Monday, which should allow for his inauguration as president on Wednesday.

Laporta has had to restructure the club’s board as a result of Jaume Giro’s resignation on Sunday, with him having been financial vice president.

According to Diari Ara, Eduard Romeu Barcelo, vice president of renewable energy company Audax, will succeed him.
