Former Barcelona assistant coach Eder Sarabia has again touched on his tense relationship with Lionel Messi.
Sarabia is now head coach of FC Andorra, which is owned by Barca defender Gerard Pique.
He told El Pais: “Being Leo Messi is very difficult. You are the best player of all time. You are very well known. You can’t go out on the street. You close yourself in your group of friends and family. You do not have other types of relationships, nor can you contrast opinions with others.
“All this produces a mental fatigue and exhaustion. That is why he wanted to leave. We weren’t able to play the keys to get the best of him. The chemistry was not as desired. We couldn’t find the best Messi in that mood. He must be lighter to develop his football.
“At the beginning I had great football conversations with him. He is a winner, you just have to talk to him about football, give him two or three messages to win. He has the rest.”
