Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta insists Xavi isn’t ready for the coaching job.
The former Barca captain is in his second season as coach of Al Sadd in Qatar and turned down the job this time last year.
Laporta said, “My relationship with Xavi, the machine, is very good. We call each other frequently.
“In my proposal he is not there, another thing is that I think that in the short, medium or long term, he could be the coach of Barça. I think he has to have a little more experience before that.
“Now the club requires experience. Just like we did with (Frank) Rijkaard, who left the bases for (Pep) Guardiola. Now you have to respect (Ronald) Koeman, who is doing what he can.
“I would ask for absolute respect for Ronald, who was a great Barça player, although in football the results and the games rule.”
