The agent of Pedri has lifted the lid on his move to Barcelona.
Signed in 2019 from Las Palmas, Pedri is enjoying his first season with the Blaugrana.
Hector Peris revealed to Mundo Deportivo: “It’s funny, because a year before signing for Barça, Pedri played for Laguna and tried to do a test for different teams on the peninsula, such as Valencia, Villarreal, Barça and Madrid, and at that time we understand that the reports from Barça did not advise signing him.
“They made no move for him. The only club that bet on the player at the time was Madrid, but he had bad luck with the circumstances in which his test took place in Valdebebas. The day he arrived he couldn’t train because it snowed; On the second day, Tuesday, he trained with cadet A (he was still 15 years old) but it was soft, pre-game training, and it didn’t help to appreciate him.
“On Wednesday he had to train with another team and when on Thursday he returned to training with Cadet A there was already a misconception about him. It was a cluster of exceptional circumstances, that led Madrid not to sign him. The story would end with Pedri signing months later for UD Las Palmas.”
