Former Barcelona defender Marc Muniesa has no doubt Xavi will eventually return to the Nou Camp.
The Al Sadd coach turned down an approach from Barca this time last year, but has stated he has hopes of returning to his old club.
And Muniesa, now playing for Al-Arabi in Qatar, told AS: “We live in the same complex. I have already told him to let us win the Emir’s Cup because they are going to win the league for sure. Let him leave something to the rest of us.”
Asked about Xavi returning to Barca, Muniesa added: “Without a doubt. Just because of the football concepts he has and everything that coaches like Pep Guardiola or Luis Enrique have given him.
“I am lucky to live with him and all the ‘staff’ and his own colleagues say that he has taken a big step compared to last year. He knows that one day he will coach Barça. Let’s see how the season ends and what happens in the elections, but I see him prepared.
“Plus, he’s a club man. Everyone will respect him. He feels Barça. He wants Barça. Another thing is whether it works or not. That will depend on how he enters the team and how the results go. But he will train Barça sooner or later. That’s for sure.”
