The uncle of Rafa Nadal has joined the ticket of Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font.
Font has announced the appointment of Toni Nadal as a member of his board, should he win the elections.
“Barcelona is more than a club – it represents emotion,” Nadal said.
“What I would like to do is to create a model in which all players from the starting eleven to the youth team know that they represent the second most important establishment in Catalonia after the Catalan government.”
Font and Nadal first acquainted themselves two years ago, when the former travelled to Manacor to meet him.
“I am excited and I hope to contribute something so that Barcelona can continue representing Catalonia and being the most important club in the world,” Nadal explained in his presentation.
Regarding his relationship with Rafa Nadal, a confessed Real Madrid fan, Toni Nadal made it clear that the only important thing is Barcelona.
“I know that I am his uncle and he is a Madrid fan, but I am also the brother of a former Barcelona player, I don’t have hatred for the rivals,” Nadal added.
“What’s important to me is that Barcelona do the best that they can.
“My Madrid executive nephew? I just want to see him win Ronald Garros in the next three or four years.”
