Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman explained fielding Frenkie de Jong at centre-half last night.
Koeman played the Holland midfielder at the back for their battling Champions League win over Dynamo Kyiv.
And he later explained: “(Clement) Lenglet had many games and these last weeks suffered physical discomfort. We waited for a game that would be played a lot in the opposition half for De Jong to play, which is an option that is going forward, he offers us 2 against 1.
“In the end it was not so, but we have taken advantage of it from the beginning.”
Koeman added: “We knew they had a good team. They are strong and in the second half they had good chances. They have smelled the blood and have gained confidence to seek the goal. And they have achieved it with 2-1.”
