Gerard Pique‘s new deal with Barcelona will run to 2024.
The defender’s previous deal had been signed in 2018 and was set to expire in the summer of 2022 when the Catalan would be 35.
However, Pique’s extension now means he is linked to the club for another two years in a deal which runs until 2024 – the year he turns 37.
The contract does include a clause that requires Pique to play a certain number of games for the club in order for the final two years of the deal to be activated.
It’s not known what this figure is, but it’s unlikely that it won’t be an achievable number of appearances.
