Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says Al Sadd coach Xavi will eventually return to the Nou Camp.
While handing Quique Setien a vote of confidence, Bartomeu conceded Xavi was also being discussed inside the board room.
“Xavi will be Barça’s coach sooner or later. Time to time, but I reiterate that we are not looking for a coach,” he told TV3.
The president also reaffirmed that he has no regrets sacking Ernesto Valverde over the New Year with Barca leading the table. They now trail leaders Real Madrid by a point, having played one game more.
Bartomeu added: “At no time have I regretted doing without Valverde, a change was needed. Setién has been harmed by the pandemic and the shutdown. Internally I have seen a positive change in many things such as training changes and group management.”
