Several of the U.S. men’s national team’s stars came together to address the ongoing protests following the death of George Floyd
U.S. Men’s national team stars Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Christian Pulisic were joined by the likes of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and Bayern Munich fullback Alphonso Davies to headline a campaign speaking out against police brutality.
McKennie was one of several Bundesliga stars to offer messages of solidarity in the wake of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Floyd’s death prompted protests all over the world, after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvino was filmed pressing his knee on the individual’s neck for more than eight minutes despite cries for help.
McKennie wrote “Justice for George Floyd” on his captain’s armband for Schalke’s loss to Weder Bremen, while Jadon Sancho, Achraf Hakimi and Marcus Thuram also made statements after scoring over the weekend with the Bundesliga confirming that none of those who protested would be punished.
In the days since, McKennie says he plans to keep speaking out about racial issues and police brutality in the U.S., with the Schalke star headlining a new video featuring a collection of current and former USMNT players.

“This has been going on for way too long,” McKennie says as the video begins. “To the cops out there that continue to abuse their power, the world is watching now. Enough is enough.”
Joining McKennie, Adams and Pulisic are several other USMNT stars, including Jozy Altidore, Jonathan Lewis, Giovanni Reyna, Josh Sargent, Zack Steffen and DeAndre Yedlin. Also included are a pair of USMNT legends in Clint Dempsey and DaMarcus Beasley as well as U.S. women’s national team forward Mallory Pugh.
The video is not just limited to American internationals, though, as Rudiger and Davies are joined by Paris Saint-Germain‘s Thilo Kehrer, Schalke’s Rabbi Matondo and Omar Mascrell, and Hertha Berlin‘s
NBA stars Larry Nance Jr. and Cristiano Felicio also appear, representing the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls, respectively.
Following up on McKennie’s tweet, the midfielder included a link to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
McKennie and Schalke are set to face Union Berlin on Sunday.
