Barcelona have assured Real Betis there’s no plans to ferry Emerson away this summer.
Barcelona agreed to loan Emerson to Betis until 2021 and if they were to bring him back earlier than that they would have to pay a penalty fee as well as a percentage of any future sale.
Diario de Sevilla says Barcelona have told Betis that they are not going to recall him early and, for that reason, he will remain where he is next season. The Catalan club feel that’s best for his development.
Barça already have a number of non-EU players — Arthur, Arturo Vidal and Ronald Araujo — in the squad, before even considering the possible arrival of Lautaro Martinez, so it would be tough to make space for Emerson.
