The former Senegal international is reportedly considered for the sporting director job with Les Rouges
Former Marseille and Senegal defender Habib Beye is one of the names in consideration for the role of sporting director at Dijon.
According to FootMercato, Les Rouges are looking to fill up the position which has been vacant since July 2019.
42-year old Beye – who is presently a consultant with French TV channel Canal+, is also up against retired DR Congo left-back Herita Ilunga.
Former Dijon midfielder Eric Carriere was reportedly approached by the club, but he turned down the opportunity.
Beye’s career spanned 15 years playing for Paris Saint-Germain II, Marseille, Newcastle United and Doncaster Rovers.
He played 35 times for Senegal, featuring at the country’s maiden World Cup outing in 2002 where they shocked 1998 champions France in their opening match and went all the way to the quarter-finals. He also played at the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
38-year old Ilunga meanwhile played for Espanyol B, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Toulouse, West Ham United, Doncaster Rovers, Rennes, Carquefou and Creteil.
He earned 32 caps for the Democratic Republic of Congo and played at the 2004 and 2006 Afcon.
Dijon finished in 16th place in the recently-cancelled Ligue 1 season because of the coronavirus pandemic, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
