Joan Laporta has stated his desire to run again for the Barcelona presidency in 2021.
Laporta, who was president between 2003 and 2010, oversaw one of the most successful eras in Barcelona‘s history, which included four league titles, two Champions Leagues, one Club World Cup, and in basketball, two league titles and one EuroLeague, among other successes.
“We want to recover the club’s prestige,” Laporta stated on Gol.
“I’m gathering people to present a project. I’m getting more and more excited.
“I’d like to come back; I’m looking forward to it and I have a margin.
“I will decide at the end of this year or next year.
“Barcelona is the club of the three billion: one billion income, one billion expenses and one billion debt.
“We have to think very well about how to reverse the club’s precarious economic situation, as it looks like the expected revenues may not be reached.
“It’s a project I have in mind. It is possible to present a credible proposal that serves to improve Barcelona‘s institutional image.”
