Real Madrid fullback Ferland Mendy says the players are ready for Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona.
Mendy himself experienced the rivalry for the first time during December’s goalless draw at the Camp Nou and he has reflected on the significance of this fixture.
“It’s true that my first Clasico was special,” he told Real Madrid‘s official media.
“I had played at the Camp Nou prior to that game, with Lyon, but wearing the shirt of Real Madrid everything is different.
“El Clasico is like no other game out there, we all want to win this game.”
The left-back swapped Lyon for Los Blancos last summer and has shared his experiences in adapting to a new club and country.
“When you come to a new club it is hard to hit the ground running, but I think that I am improving with each game and I want to reach my peak to give more in attack,” he said.
“I am more focused on defending well than going forward right now.
“At Lyon, I defended less and had to go forward a lot, so I am looking for the balance there.”
