Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli admits he struck up a friendship with Ansu Fati during trials at Barcelona.
The pair are now starring at senior level for their respective teams.
Martinelli recalled to Marca: “I spent 15 days there, which was the time I had on vacation with the U17s that ended in October. As Copinha did not start until January, we would train in December. And November was free. Barcelona invited me to train with them in La Masía but afterwards they didn’t want to do anything with me, they didn’t tell me anything…
“I went back to Ituano, I played the Copinha and I immediately came to Arsenal.
“They (senior Barca players) were very good, I took full advantage and gave my best. Seeing how they train, knowing the structure of the club, the city … it was a dream come true too. I even trained with Ansu Fati and we became friends.
“He helped me a lot there and is now playing in the main team. He is a boy who deserves everything good that is happening to him. He is super humble and welcomed me super well there.”
