MVV Maastricht chief Ron Elsen admits he’s been surprised by Xavier Mbuyamba’s success with Barcelona.
Mbuyamba left MVV for Barca last summer.
“I would have preferred him here,” said Elsen.
“I didn’t expect this, but I don’t think he did either.
“We offered him a three-year contract, but his environment didn’t like it.
“I think Barcelona should have something new in terms of central defenders in a few years. And I hope he will be there.”
