Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has sympathy for Ernesto Valverde at Barcelona.
Valverde is facing the sack after the Spanish champions were knocked out of the Supercopa by Atletico Madrid.
Asked about the rumours saying Valverde could be sacked and the possibility of Xavi taking over, Zidane said: “What’s going on with Valverde happens to all coaches. I don’t want to enter in to that because it’s what he’s going through now, it’s what we live as coaches, it won’t change.
On Barça’s 3-2 loss to Atletico, who will meet Madrid on Sunday in the final, he added: “A football game is like that. I thought there was a moment when Barca were going to win but no. Because Atletico are also a team that compete well until the end and they turned the game around. That’s football. Until the last minute, anything can happen.”
