Al-Sadd sporting director Muhammad Ghulam Al Balushi admits coach Xavi is in talks with Barcelona.
The former midfielder is linked with Ernesto Valverde’s job at the Camp Nou, with the Catalans seeking to replace the coach following their latest disappointment in the Supercopa de Espana.
“Xavi is negotiating with Barcelona,” the sporting director confirmed before Al-Sadd’s semi-final win on Saturday.
The Qatari club had previously issued a warning to Barcelona, stating that the LaLiga Santander side should act correctly in their pursuit of the coach.
Now the decision appears to be Xavi’s, though the club have expressed that they’ll wish their coach well “wherever he goes”.
