Barcelona have offered Ernesto Valverde’s job to Al Sadd coach Xavi, it has been claimed.
Marca says CEO Oscar Grau and technical secretary Eric Abidal travelled to Doha on Friday to interview the former Blaugrana player.
The meeting was planned a few days ago to offer Xavi the job for the next two full seasons, but the situation has escalated with the defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana.
Now, the Barcelona board are planning on appointing Xavi immediately as Valverde’s replacement.
If Xavi turns down this offer, which doesn’t seem his intention at the moment, Valverde will stay in his role because there is no other clear replacement on the market.
