New Monaco coach Robert Moreno insists he’ll always be grateful to Spain boss Luis Enrique.
Moreno was forced out of the Spain job in November as Enrique returned after mourning the passing of his daughter. Enrique, who had Moreno as his No2 with both Barcelona and La Roja, also publicly criticised Moreno following the change.
But the new ASM boss insisted during his presentation yesterday: “I spent nine wonderful years at [Luis Enrique‘s] side.
“I feel nothing but gratitude.
“What happened a few weeks ago is already in the past.
“I’ve been a coach for 28 years.
“I have been training since I was 14 and now the important thing is that this is my presentation as coach.
“The past is there, but you have to leave it behind.”
Moreno also stressed that he is willing to speak French to communicate with both his players and the media.
“Speaking in French is a matter of respect for me towards you,” he continued.
“It is very important for me to communicate with my players.
“I am very happy to be in Ligue 1.”
