Barcelona defender Gerard Pique admits he could retire before the end of his current contract.
Pique is tied to Barca until 2022.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “My last team will be Barça, I have no intention of wearing another shirt.
“If I see that I lose importance or see that I am not at the right level, I’ll have no problem leaving before then.
“I think it will not happen because I know myself and I am capable of enduring until 2022, but you never know.”
Pique also sought to clarify comments last week where he suggested he was only getting “4-5 hours sleep a night” due to his business interests.
He said, “What I said is that one day I sleep four or five hours, but that in general, and especially on game days, I sleep 10 hours at night and two hours of nap.
“Yes, it is true that there are some days I sleep less, but not only for organizing this (Davis Cup), but because I like the NBA and the games are late, and I am convinced that there are many people who are the same.
“There are a lot of things that are what give you the performance. Sleep, food, is very important, but there are other things like training well, being mentalised before the games … there are many things and in the end I try to fulfill them all. If I have been at Barça for 12 years and 16 since I debuted, it is not by chance but because I have routines that I try to accomplish and that have worked for me.”
