Barcelona sports chief Eric Abidal admits Ronald Koeman is capable of coaching the Blaugrana.
The Holland coach has confirmed a clause in his contract would allow him to leave the job for Barca after next summer’s Euros.
And while insisting Ernesto Valverde is safe, Abidal concedes Koeman, a former Barca captain, boasts all the right criteria.
He told Sport: “Koeman meets the criteria for a Barcelona coach.
“The list of potential trainers for Barcelona is very short. As far as Koeman is concerned, that is information that is generally known. But it’s not up to him, it’s a club decision. I haven’t talked to anyone because I have a lot of respect for Ernesto.”
