The Venoms extended their unbeaten run in the top flight to nine games this season following a goalless draw on Sunday
Vipers SC extended their lead in the Ugandan Premier League (UPL) after playing out a 0-0 draw against Onduparaka away at Green Light stadium in Arua.
The Venoms are now top of the table with 21 points, two above BUL FC, who were not in action, while Onduparaka are fourth with 16 points.
Onduparaka, who were lucky not to concede, have to be thankful to their goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa, who made several saves to deny Vipers a goal.
Ashraf Mugume and striker Fahad Bayo are some of Vipers players who failed to beat Wasswa.
Vipers, who are also the only side in the league who are unbeaten, saw their barren run against Onduparaka in Arua extended to four games.
According to the New Vision, in all the four games the sides have met in Arua, Onduparaka has managed to win one match (1-0) but the other three games ended in goalless draws.
Onduparaka on another day could have walked away with a goal if Ceaser Okhuti, Gasper Adriko, and Vitalis Tabu didn’t miss their scoring opportunities.
Tabu’s freekick was saved by Vipers goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora while Adriko’s shot hit the crossbar.
The weekend game was Onduparaka’s third consecutive game without a win.
The league will resume next week Tuesday with several games on the card.
League champions KCCA FC have not been in action due to their engagement in the Caf Confederation Cup.
KCCA managed a 0-0 draw against visiting Algerian side Paradou AC in the first leg playoff match played on Sunday.
