Former Liverpool captain and current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looms as a shock possible replacement for Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.
In the wake of Spurs’ recent struggles, Gerrard’s odds of becoming the club’s next manager have been cut from $41 to $17 in the space of 24 hours with Sportsbet.
Gerrard is only into his second season as a manager with Rangers and has been widely tipped as the man to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield when the German eventually departs.
But a shock call-up to Tottenham could now well be on the cards as punters put their money behind the 39-year-old.
As it stands with the bookies, Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho remain as the joint favourites to replace Pochettino at $4.50.
Other notable names include former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri ($6.50), Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe ($9) and former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique ($13).
While Spurs did end their horror run of poor results on Wednesday with a 5-0 win in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade, Pochettino’s position is still shaky with the man himself previously linked with the top job at Real Madrid.
Pochettino remains the second best-backed manager to lose his job next ($3.50) with Everton‘s Marco Silva still outright favourite ($3).
The Toffees boss claimed a crucial 2-0 win against West Ham last time out but still finds the club sitting 15th in the Premier League.
