The LaLiga has requested that the RFEF’s Competition Committee change next weekend’s Clasico to the Bernabeu from Camp Nou.
LaLiga feel that the game should not be played in Barcelona due to the political unrest in Catalonia following the prison sentences handed to nine politicians and civil leaders.
AS reports Spain’s Sports Council, as part of the government, is also against the game going ahead at Camp Nou on October 26: “As events are developing we consider that, in the same way as La Liga and the RFEF, for security reasons, it’s not reasonable to play this game as is planned.”
Now it’s up to the Competition Committee to make a final decision after hearing arguments from both clubs. Barça are happy for the game to go ahead, while Real Madrid would like it postponed and played at a later date – and not moved to the Bernabeu.
